Meow Cosmetics Simple Pleasures

Here is the second part of the Meow Cosmetics Pleasures Collection. So far I've really loved all the colors in both the Guilty and Simple Pleasures and when it comes out again (probably next year) I will definitely snag the rest of the colors. The Simple Pleasures collection consists of softer, more muted colors than the Guilty Pleasures collection and for those that like more neutral colors this is the collection for you! All of them are satin finish low shimmer shadows with no glitter. Enjoy!

Cuddles - shimmery medium aqua

Barefoot - soft shimmery baby pink

Rainy Days - silvered cornflower blue. This one looks really similar to the color of dress my bridesmaids wore for my wedding. =) The picture shows it more purple than it actually is in real life.

Making Love - beautiful taupe with hints of lavender and pink. This one is a hard color to describe but it's absolutely gorgeous!

Silence - gorgeous bright aquamarine. Reminds me of the color of the ocean in Cancun. Much brighter in person than in the picture.

Chick Flicks - medium bubble gum pink

Makeup No-Buy Update

I just thought I'd update everyone on how my no-buy is going. So far it's been almost 2 weeks (will be 2 weeks on Friday) and I can honestly say that I really have not been tempted to break it even after seeing some AMAZING deals and sales from several makeup companies. With that being said, I noticed that I switched from buying makeup to buying Heartsy deals and Indie perfumes.

So I am going to extend my makeup no-buy to include bath and body, Heartsy, Etsy, Artfire, etc. as well as extend the date to October 1, 2011. My main reason for doing so is because I am in the process of starting a business and I need to invest more money in it if I want it to be successful. I am very excited about my new business and once I am ready I will share it with all of you (particularly since it does involve skincare)!

Meow Cosmetics Guilty Pleasures Collections

I really cannot resist Meow Cosmetics especially when they have a sale AND a limited edition/limited time only collection. I'm actually a bit newer to the Meow Cosmetics line of eye shadows but after having purchased their Friday the 13th collection (yes yes I haven't swatched them or even opened them yet...bad blogger), I was totally hooked. If I could I would have ordered the entire collections of both the Guilty and Simple Pleasures but unfortunately my wallet couldn't afford it so I ordered  shades from each collection.

The Guilty Pleasures Collection consists mostly of vivid/rich jewel toned shades that are absolutely gorgeous! There were actually a couple other shades I also wanted to snag but I resigned myself to just 6 for the time being. Maybe next year I can get the rest of them... ;)

E-shopping - violet with a silvery sheen

Those Heels - bold burgundy red shimmer

Retail Therapy - very vivid teal with gold shimmer

One Night Stand - deep dark blue with a slight gold sheen

Midnight Feast - rich dark eggplant purple with a blue base and a slight rose sheen

Sick Days - light periwinkle blue with an aqua sheen

Don't ask me to pick a favorite out of these because I love them all. =) All these shadows are silky smooth and very blendable. The only one that caused me a bit of trouble was Midnight Feast. The blue base does separate from the main color which did make it harder to get an even swatch but it wasn't terrible. Overall I love this collection! Simple Pleasures coming soon!

Persephone Minerals Part Deux

Hello again Persephone Minerals! I loved the first order I received from Victoria and I placed another order with her about a month later. I purchased her Sailor Senshi Mars collection as well as a Mix n Match any 6 Senshi colors. I really do want to try her other collections eventually but for now am sticking with the Senshi collections. These are all swatched over Hi-Fi High Impact Shadow Fix so that I could capture the awesomeness of these shadows. Enjoy!

Mars Crystal Power - gorgeous peachy pink with strong gold duochrome and loaded with pink and gold glitter

Princess Mars - salmon pink with pink glitters. This has a strong orange base

Sailor Mars - dark red with red glitters

Mars Flame Sniper - brown based orangey red with red and gold holographic glitter

Mercury Aqua Rhapsody - medium cornflower blue with green iridescent glitter. In the jar it looks similar to Fyrinnae's Curiouser and Curiouser except less glittery.

Eternal Sailor Moon - light gold duochrome with iridescent pink and green glitter

Sailor Mercury - dusty cornflower blue with aqua and green iridescent shimmer. There isn't really a big difference between this and Mercury Aqua Rhapsody in my opinion. The biggest differences is this shade is darker and isn't as glittery as Mercury Aqua Rhapsody

Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss - medium bubble gum pink with iridescent green glitter

Chibi USA - light shimmery bubble gum pink with silver and pink iridescent glitter. The picture shows it to be slightly darker than Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss but it's actually lighter. I think the shimmery-ness of the shadow throws the color off slightly in the picture.

Pink Sugar Heart Attack - bright magenta with gold and purple glitter

Rei - deep dark purple with gold, dark blue and red shimmer. Almost missed this one on accident which is why it got swatched all by its lonesome....xD

One Hand Washes The Other

My OHWTO goodies!
I've heard so many great things about this company from some of my other beauty blogger friends so I had to try them out! Becca is the owner of One Hand Washes The Other (OHWTO) and she's very active on her FB page as well as many other MMU pages so even though I've never really interacted with her I sort of feel like I know her. =) She's in the process of moving right now so not all of her items are available in her artfire shop. I was lucky enough to get in on her last restock before she shuts down her shop completely for her big move.

My haul =)
I ended up ordering 3 solid scents in Carnivale, Viva La Juicy and Amazing, 1 5mL perfume oil in Besos del Sol, 2 lip butters in Mango Creme and Lychee Green Tea and of course her famous Black Magic creme soap. I placed my order on June 1 and received it on June 6 so TAT was less than a week. However, I know this isn't normal for her since she usually makes her products as orders come in so TAT is normally around 10-14 business days. She is stocking her products for now till she closes shop for her move.

My invoice and sample were in this pretty little envelope
I really loved the way she packages everything! Becca obviously puts a lot of time and care into her orders. One thing I was rather disappointed about was my Black Magic creme soap was missing from my order.  =( That was one of the main reason why I order and it wasn't there...so sad. I contacted Becca about it and she is going to include the soap in the small order I placed yesterday. =)

Now on to the products I received.  All the solid scents and the lip butters were shrink wrapped which I always like to see. These didn't really have easy perforations to pull them off though and I ended up with a deep cut on my thumb trying to cut one of them off (totally my fault though in being clumsy...lol). I also received a sample of Peppermint lip butter in a little clam shell.

My cute little sample
I'm going to start with the lip balm scents. To me these lip balms do taste the same as they smell which is ok I suppose although I am not a fan of eating them by any means...lol. They have a really lovely silky smooth feeling when applied and the glide on very easily. They seem to melt just enough when they touch your lips which is awesome because there's nothing worse than a lip balm that doesn't glide on your lips when applied. These lip butters have a shine finish when applied so my hubby is not interested in using them at all...lol (I'm trying to find a lip balm he'll actually wear).

Mango Creme - This lip butter at first smelled more like creme than anything else. It's a fairly sweet scent and I really only smelled the mango when it was applied on my lips. If you're not a fan of marshmallow/creme scents I don't recommend.

Lychee Green Tea - This lip butter also smelled more like Green Tea than Lychee. I think I sort of expected the lip butters to smell more like the first thing listed (Lychee and Mango) rather than the last thing listed (Green Tea and Creme).

Peppermint - I think I actually like this simple scented one the best. The peppermint is clean and sweet without being overpowering.

Now for the scents. This is my first foray into solid scents. I really liked how they seemed to melt onto my skin when applied. It was a tad greasy at first but this soaked in fairly quickly.

Carnivale - In the tube, I smell mostly the lemon snow cones and vanilla ice cream. I do catch a hint of the orange soda but I can't really catch the cotton candy. Wet on my skin, the lemon snow cones and the orange soda are the most prominent scent notes. After it dries down, the lemon and orange fade into the background and the cotton candy and vanilla ice cream take center stage. By the end of the day all that's left is a light lingering scent of sweet vanilla ice cream. =) This scent lasted on me a good 6 hours without reapplying.

Viva La Juicy -In the tube, the strongest notes I smell are the Jasmine and Gardenia. I can also pick up the vanilla, amber and sandalwood. Wet on my skin, the prominent scent notes are mandarins and vanilla with hints of the florals and sandalwood. Dried down, it smells exactly the same as it smells in the tube. By the end of the day, the final lingering scent is vanilla with a hint of florals.

Amazing - In the tube, it smells mostly of rose with lemon mixed in. Wet on my skin, the cinnamon smell becomes more prominent which warms the smell of  the rose and lemon quite a bit. Dried down, it goes back to smelling pretty much exactly the same as it does in the tube.

Besos Del Sol - In the bottle, the most prominent notes are Jasmine and Gardenia with a hint of coconut. Wet on my skin, the Jasmine and Gardenia are still very prominent but the white grapefruit and coconut as well as a hint of amber begin to surface more. Dried down, the creaminess of the coconut and vanilla become more obvious above the white floral of Gardenia.

This is the first time I've really gotten into Indie company made perfumes and I can see a new addiction growing...=P I already placed and received another order from OHWTO which included 3 more scents as well as the famous Black Magic soaps in cream and bar form...I can tell you now...I am in LOVE with Black Magic! I'll review the soaps and the other perfumes I received once I get the chance to wear the new perfumes for a couple days. =)

My Pretty Zombie Revisited

My Pretty Zombie had a recent Heartsy deal which, after my first order, I took full advantage of. I am a VIP Heartsy member so I was able to buy this deal the day before it was released as well as receive an additional $10 credit. Small side note here, paying for VIP on Heartsy is totally worth it if you buy at least 2-3 vouchers a month. You get early access to deals so you know that you will be able to get whatever deal you're after before it gets sold out and also a lot of the deal offer and additional $10 credit so the VIP membership pays for itself.

Anyways, back to MPZ...I had Andrea put together a custom listing for me right before the Heartsy deal was released so that I wouldn't have to hunt through her listings for the colors I wanted. I ended up choosing 7 full size colors for my custom order. Check out my swatches below!

Bettie - pretty aqua shimmer

Roxie - hot pink with pink and purple glitter

Bride - bright white with silver glitter

Unicorn Pee - very light lavender chock full of holographic glitter. OMG this color is FREAKING AMAZING!!! If you only buy one shadow from MPZ BUY THIS ONE!!!! (oh and wonder of wonders, my camera actually picked up the glitters!)

Violet - dusty violet with aqua glitter

Agony's Decay - chartreuse with holographic glitter

Illustrated Ink - metallic navy with an aqua shift

After my no-buy, there are a couple of other MPZ shades I really want to pick up...although I doubt I'll love any of them as much as Unicorn Pee!!

I am officially on a makeup no-buy!

Thanks to a couple other girls in a closed group I participate in on Facebook, I am officially on a makeup no-buy until September 1. I recently read a statistic that stated women spend about $200 annually on makeup...I laughed to myself because I easily spend that in less than one month. Honestly though, I have so much makeup that I haven't even opened or swatched because I'm constantly buying that it's becoming ridiculous.

So, until I am able to swatch and use every single eye shadow, blush, lip gloss, etc I currently own I will be on this no-buy. This no-buy is not applicable to every day staples such as foundation, mascara, primer. Good thing I have goodies coming from Meow Cosmetics and Darling Girl Cosmetics to help tide me over until September! Oh, and this no-buy also is not applicable to bath and body products...hehehe. Wish me luck!

Darling Girl Cosmetics Hello Kitty Collection

Darling Girl Cosmetics (DGC) has been one of my favorite MMUCs almost since the very beginning so this review of them is long overdue. Susan is the owner of DGC and she is an absolute doll! Her customer service is impeccable and she will go above and beyond for you. =)

What I really love about DGC is that they offer eye shadows in 3 sizes Full, Petit and Sample which is awesome when you're trying to save money (like me!). I generally order Petit as these are 3g jars and I have waay too much eye shadow that I doubt I'll ever even use up the 3g jars unless I use it religiously every day. Her TAT is a bit on the longer side, around 10-14 business days but her products are SO worth it! Also, with every purchase over $10 she give you a free gift with purchase (GWP) 3g jar of eye shadow that is not part of her normal collection. The GWP changes just about every week and usually once they're gone you can't get them anymore.

I am a huge fan of Hello Kitty so when I heard she was releasing a Hello Kitty collection I knew it would be mine! I ordered all the eye shadows in the collection in the Petit sizes. There are also a few blushes, glitter liners and lippies in the collection but I haven't purchased those yet (I probably will...eventually...lol). Anyways, on to the swatches...oh by the way I swatched these over a primer from Lucky107 Cosmetics instead of the usual MAC Painterly paint pot simply because I wanted to test out the Lucky107 primer. I'll be reviewing Lucky107 shortly...now back to the swatches.

Balletusa - Medium dusty lilac
Sugar Bunnies - Coppery light brown with green iridescent glitter
Hana Maru - Bright pearly white with holographic glitter
Landry - Dark bronzed brown with copper shimmer

My Melody - Soft baby pink with a light green/gold duochrome
Chococat - Drab army brown satin
Purin - Soft golden yellow with red glitter
Sugar Minuet - Royal purple with aqua glitter

Badtz Maru - Medium chocolate brown with gold glitter
Chi Chai Monchan - Bright strawberry pink satin.
Deery Lou - Light chocolate brown with holographic glitter

Keroppi - Light sea foam green with purple glitter
Spottie Dottie - Soft rose pink with gold shift and a touch of holographic glitter

The pictures don't quite do justice to the eye shadows but at least you have an idea of what they look like. =) Are you in love with DGC yet? Well hopefully you are now or will be after I show off and review my DGC lippie collection as well as my newest order which is in the mail right now (and it is a large one since I ordered during their first ever sale)! DGC really does have something for everyone and she keeps expanding her product offerings which is awesome (well not so awesome for my wallet =P).

Bokeh Face Cosmetics Tie The Knot Palette

I had seen reviews of Bokeh Face Cosmetics from when they first launched but at the time I didn't really see a lot of colors that interested me. Some of them caught my eye such as seaweed and flippie floppies but that didn't really seem like enough to get me to try out a new MMUC especially considering the sheer volume of makeup I would love to order from my favorite companies. If you know anything about me you'll know that I love super glittery and duochrome eye shadows and from what I've seen, Bokeh Face doesn't really make them.

Natalie released the Tie The Knot Palette a few days before my wedding which probably factored in to me finally purchasing from Bokeh Face. I knew I wouldn't get it in time for the wedding but I liked the look and contents of this neat little palette. I figured it would be great to use on-the-go as you could do simple day to evening looks with it.

I ordered this palette on May 11 and received it on June 6. Her artfire shop policies state that she ships within 4 business days placing the order which obviously was not true in my case. I received a package shipped email on May 23. June 3 I emailed Natalie asking her about the package since I still hadn't received the package and the tracking wasn't updated. She didn't email me back till June 5 saying she had dropped it in the mail last week. By the time she had emailed me back, the tracking had updated stating the package was dropped off on June 3, the same day I had emailed her. Honestly I am not thrilled this kind of service. If the shipping was going to be delayed for any reason (she said she was waiting on packaging?) she should have at least let me know without me having to ask, especially since she sent the package almost 2 weeks after she sent me the shipped notification.

Packaging was very plain. My item was shipped to me in a bubble mailer with an invoice and nothing else. Her website stated that this particular palette would be shipped in a pretty box ready to be given as a gift and this was certainly not the case. The palette itself is a clear plastic palette. The label on the top could have been more professionally done. It wasn't quite on the palette straight and the label was slightly too large for the top of the palette. The printing on the label was not very high quality which made it look tired and faded.

I was hoping that perhaps the contents of the palette would redeem this purchase but unfortunately it did not. I started with the lip color called Honeymoon. In the palette, it looks like a nice medium pink which would look good on pretty much anyone. In reality, there is very little pigmentation to this lip color. It is a very sheer sort of balm with a very light pink tint which did not show up in photographs. My Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers has more pigmentation than the color in this palette.

Swatching the eye shadows was practically impossible. I tried using both my fingers and brushes but these colors refused to be swatched. I was not able to pick up enough of the pressed shadows on either my brush or my fingers to really see the colors very well much less photograph them. It seems like these particular pigments have been pressed too hard?  I really am not sure why this is the case as I am not really an expert when it comes to pressed shadows (most of mine are loose minerals but I do know what the pressed should be like since I do own a MAC palette).

I'm pretty sure that Bouquet would be a lovely color based on the tiny amount I was able to swatch. It is a really pretty light pink with gold shift. I'm not sure about the other two though. I think the only usable color in this palette would be Garter, which is supposed to be the eyeliner. Garter was the only color I was able to actually get a decent amount on my brush to actually use. Its basically a matte black with hints of silver sparkle. I'm sure if you foiled it this would make a decent eyeliner.

I would not recommend anyone to buy this palette. What I might try to do is break the pressed shadows and see if they would be more usable as loose shadows. I'll definitely update you if this works or not.

I was really quite disappointed with the way things turned out with this palette. It didn't really give me a favorable impression of a company I really wanted to like. I would definitely like to give Bokeh Face Cosmetics loose eye shadows a try in the future though as I have heard and seen good things about them from various beauty bloggers.

My Pretty Zombie mNg collection!

My first MPZ haul!
I had heard about My Pretty Zombie (MPZ) awhile ago but had never really been interested in ordering from them until mNg from "I'm Not Skinny, So What?" had Andrea custom make her collection of gorgeous pinks known as the mNG collection. After I saw the swatches mNg posted of her custom collection I knew I had to order them!

mNg Collection
My packaged arrived in a standard yellow bubble mailer I believe about 7 or 8 business days after I placed my order which is a fairly standard TAT for most small MMUCs. My mNg collection came in a hot pink organza bag along with 3 samples, a hand written thank you, my invoice, 2 business cards and a plastic spider. I like that Andrea puts a lot of detail into her packaging.

Her full size eyeshadow jars do not have sifters but they do come shrink-wrapped to protect against product loss. I always love when a company shrink wraps as it makes it look more professional. The full size shadows are labeled on the bottom with the list of ingredients. Her labels are rather difficult to read though because of the font so I think that in the future the font should be changed to something that's easier to read.

Free samples! Who doesn't like free?!?
On to the shadows...I love how silky smooth these eye shadows are. They glide on very smoothly and with very little effort on my part. As you can see from the swatches, the eye shadows are very highly pigmented and overall really gorgeous. The freebie samples she included were also quite generous. =)

mNg #1 - The darkest pink of the three in the collection, this one is a gorgeous fuchsia leaning slightly more towards the purple side. This has a pretty little aqua/green duochrome to it.

mNg #2 - I believe this is the boldest pink of this collection. I would say this one is a hot pink with gold iridescent shimmer. This also has a fair amount of red/orange tone in it.

mNg #3 - This one is the lightest pink of the three. This is a slightly sheer light fuchsia with green iridescent shimmer...and in case you're wondering...it is not possible to pick a favorite of these three. =P

Free samples
Rabies - A very pretty shimmery aqua/teal. Super gorgeous color particularly since I'm currently obsessed with teals/aquas right now.

Hangover - I was pleasantly surprised by this color. I didn't realize it was a matte until I swatched it. This is a gorgeous bright bubble gum pink!

Thunderpants - The picture shows this shade darker than it is in real life. This is more of an antiqued bronze color with teal glitter. Very unique and I definitely want a full size of this one.

Andrea, the owner of MPZ was very easy to work with and she clearly cares for her customers. I'm not really a fan of the bloodied and mutilated barbie dolls or the zombie theme but it is something I can look past (I generally do not like horror/gore/zombies). I do like the eye shadows I received this time around and already have another package from her on its way to me! =)

Hi-Fi Cosmetics Here Comes the Sun

    Here Comes The Sun Collection
Veronica, the owner of Hi-Fi Cosmetics, released this Here Comes The Sun Collection at the end of April and I took advantage of a 10% off sale she had to purchase the entire set. I love how much thought she puts into each of her collections and this one is no exception.

    The eye shadows
With the exception of 3 of her current collections, all of them have 10 eye shadows and 3 lip glazes in them. This is my first time trying her lip glazes as before I have always just ordered her eye shadows. So far I have liked these lip glazes quite a bit. They have a slight minty flavor to them and are very smooth, pigmented and not too sticky. I'm not too sure how long they wear yet since I haven't worn any of them for any length of time but from what I've read they're fairly long lasting. The eye shadows are as usual very sparkly, pigmented and smooth.

    Spotlight Lip Glazes

Beach Body - pale champagne with holographic glitter

Into the Lavender - pale satiny lavender

Silver Lining - baby blue with a touch of holographic glitter

Hula - medium bubblegum pink with iridescent green glitter

Margaritaville - shimmery medium green with gold duochrome and holographic glitter. This is really similar to Persephone Minerals Jupiter Crystal Power except this one is a darker shade of green.

Dreamsicle - bright creamy orange with iridescent orange shimmer. The picture makes it look more yellow than it really is. Reminds me exactly of an orange creamsicle!

Ramblin' Rose - soft satiny pink with a hint of gold shimmer.

Summer Lovin' - bright yellow with PINK glitter. This is now my current favorite yellow! Absolutely love the pink glitter in it!

Yay! Blogger cooperated with me and I was able to fix the flipping!
Kokomo - bright shimmery aquamarine. The picture of this one to me is not very accurate. This is a really gorgeous aqua/teal and is way brighter in person.

Pink Lemonade - baby pink with tons of gold and iridescent glitter. Definitely the most glittery of the bunch, it's super pretty!

Cruel Summer - very bright orange-y coral!

Car Wash - shimmery lilac with pink shimmer

Spring Fling - cool blue-toned pink with gold shimmer

So far, this is the only complete collection I've ordered from Hi-Fi but I honestly think I love this collection the best out of all her collections based on the random shadows I have from her other collections and of course other swatches done by various beauty bloggers. The colors here are absolutely gorgeous, very sparkly and great colors for summer. My swatches and photos really do not do this collection justice at all so I totally recommend buying this collection or at least the samples of it and trying it out yourself!
